The Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) represents the four Panhellenic sororities including Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, and Delta Zeta. As we are all values-based organizations, we found that our community needed to reconnect and remember the reason for our founding. Each of our individual chapters and the Panhellenic Council were founded on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, community service/philanthropy, and sisterhood. When an individual joins a Panhellenic sorority at UMKC, they are assured a well-rounded experience that will include all four pillars during their college days. The all-sorority GPA is consistently higher than the all-women’s GPA at UMKC, some of the most prominent leaders on campus are members of Panhellenic, service opportunities are abundantly available, and sisterhood is formed within the chapters and among the community.

As a result, the sorority assumes an affirmative action program that integrates the basic tenets of the individual value and the worth of each member into every facet of sorority life. Regularly, and on a consistent basis, it is incumbent upon us to review those policies to remind each of us of our responsibility to behave in a manner that is within the framework of Delta’s no-hazing policies and to uphold the law on Criminal Hazing.

When six young women came together in 1902 to form a social sorority, they had a vision of lifetime sisterhood fostered by ideals that they cherished.

The six friends bonded quickly as they faced the challenges of starting a sorority on a male-dominated campus, as women had just been given full status as students at Miami University.
Alfa Lloyd, Mary Collins, Anna Keen, Julia Bishop, Mabelle Minton and Anne Simmons met with Dr. Guy Potter Benton, then president of the university, to make their idea a reality.

Delta Zeta Sorority was founded at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1902. It was the first sorority to be founded at the university.

The Founders then went on to lay the foundation for a Sorority which would have a national reach. Today, Delta Zeta has enriched the lives of over 260,000 alumnae and collegiate members in the United States and Canada.

The purpose of the Interfraternity Council includes but is not limited to the following:
A. To promote relationships that are conducive to the general preservation of the fraternity system at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
B. To improve the fraternity experience through helping the fraternity system to remain acceptable and relevant to student life as it changes on our campus.
C. To serve as a forum for deliberation for the consideration of the mutual concerns of member organizations.
D. To provide assistance to any fraternity in the accomplishment of its goals and activities when such assistance is considered appropriate.
E. To provide programs and activities├óÔé¼┼í both developmental and social├óÔé¼┼í for all member organizations in order to help improve their functioning.
F. To provide common experiences that encourage cooperation and unity among organizations.
G. To initiate resolutions and recommendations that will further the purposes and ideals of member organizations.
H. To uphold and promote the fraternity criteria of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV).

Membership shall be open to all duly enrolled UMKC students. Membership and activities are open to all currently enrolled students regardless of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, or veteran status. IFC dues are $12.50 per member. Any Potential New Member shall meet the following GPA requirement in order to be accepted as a New Member by any Member Fraternity: A. A minimum high school GPA of 2.7 for first semester freshmen; or B. A minimum college of GPA of either 2.7; or at/above the institutions all-men's average from the previous semester, whichever was lower, from the semester prior to joining.

During the fall of 1989, the foundation of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. was commenced by collegiate women who recognized the need to form an organization that provided empowerment to women of all cultural backgrounds. Her humble beginnings were built at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa where their vision was to create a network of academic and social support for Latina women. Under the guidance of Esther Materon Arum and Mary Peterson, the vision came to fruition on April 9th, 1990, as the University of Iowa Panhellenic Council officially recognized the organization as a sorority. Through the continued commitment and leadership of the founding mothers, the operation of Sigma Lambda Gamma has thrived on many college campuses and provides an avenue for educational excellence to women of many nationalities. Our members recognize the need for togetherness and support among women of varying cultures at the university level and they remain dedicated to the overall success of women in a global environment. Sigma Lambda Gamma is a sisterhood of women who have chosen this affiliation as a manner to achieve personal development and awareness to the responsibility of community involvement for the betterment of our local, regional, national and global communities through the efforts of a network of close to 10,000 sorority members. Furthermore, we continue to be a pioneer in the Fraternal world through development of innovative programming initiatives, such as the Young Women, Leadership Program and Emotional Intelligence.Today, Sigma Lambda Gamma is the largest, historically Latina-based national sorority with a multicultural membership in chapters and alumnae associations throughout the United States from Arizona to Wyoming; Florida to Minnesota; New York to Texas; and many more states between the coasts of California and Rhode Island.
