Join the History Club and the Department of World Languages and Cultures as we host Spanish historian Professor Benito Bermejo for dinner and an informal talk on Wednesday, August 27 from 6-7:30pm in 109 Scofield Hall to discuss how false narratives can embed themselves within a society’s collective memory and to hear about his experiences as a working historian. Dinner will be provided at this free event. Please RSVP.

Professor Bermejo’s three-decade career centers on uncovering and preserving historical truth, especially as it relates to World War II. His research led to the unmasking of famed Spanish Holocaust survivor Enric Marco as a fraud. Bermejo’s articles on Marco and his work to document Marco’s lies inspired the feature film Marco: The Invented Truth, which will be screened for free at the Nelson Atkins on August 28.
